Family Meetings - A Structure for Managing

(Times to be together, have fun, make plans & solve problems)

Basic Ground Rules for Family Meetings (can add your own):

Set a weekly meeting time

Meet for no more than one hour

Each person has a chance to speak

Listen when others are speaking

No criticisms or teasing

1. Identify What’s Working

What we need to follow up

Acknowledge what is working

What do you like about what we’re doing?

2. Identify What Needs to be Fixed

List any family problems

Choose one to solve

State the result you want

List and discuss possible solutions

Choose one

Make a plan

Set a date to review it

3. Identify What We Can Do Together

List fun activities for your family

Discuss them

Choose one to do

Make a plan to do it
